Based on your condition, your surgeon will perform either one of the two different types of surgery- Endoscopy OR Balloon Sinuplasty. Both of these surgeries are done under general anesthesia to numb the pain.
Endoscopy: In this procedure, your surgeon will insert a very thin and flexible instruments called endoscopes into your nose. One of the instruments will have a small camera lens that will send images back to a screen. This will help your surgeon to see your blocked sinuses and guide the instruments to remove polyps, scar tissues, and others from the sinuses. Since there will be no cuts made into your skin, your recovery will be faster and easier.
Balloon Sinuplasty: This procedure is carried out if your surgeon doesn’t need to remove anything from your sinuses. Your surgeon will put a thin tube into your nose. Attached at one end of the tube will be a small balloon. The surgeon will then guide the balloon to the blocked area inside your nose and inflate it. This process will clear the passageway and remove congestion in your sinuses.
